Krystin & James

Krystin and James’ love story is one of serendipity and devotion. They met in July 2018, and from the moment Krystin was introduced to James’ daughter, Tea, their connection deepened. Their happiest memories were spent at the cabin—fishing, relaxing, and embracing the beauty of nature with Tea and their beloved dog, Clare. It was there that they truly became a family.
In 2024, James orchestrated a breathtaking proposal in Turks and Caicos. They had stumbled upon Taylor Beach by chance, and each evening, they walked along its quiet shores. On their final night, as the sky turned golden, James confessed that he had known from the moment he saw the beach that it would be where he proposed. With the waves as their witness, he asked Krystin to marry him, saying it was “six years too late”—a heartfelt nod to their journey together.
Their wedding plans took an exciting turn when the Manitoba Club unexpectedly offered them an August 2024 date. It was the perfect opportunity to bring their vision to life. With the help of Academy Florist, the venue was transformed into a floral wonderland. White orchids, pink hydrangeas, and cascading roses filled the space, while towering floral arches framed the altar. The aisle, blanketed in delicate rose petals, led Krystin to James, as guests erupted into cheers at the sight of her stunning, regal gown.
The reception was a night of pure magic. Guests dined at candlelit tables adorned with lush florals, enjoying heartfelt toasts and exquisite cuisine. The dance floor remained packed as loved ones celebrated the newlyweds, and Krystin and James shared their first dance beneath a canopy of twinkling lights. Every detail reflected their love story, making it a day they would cherish forever.
Their wedding wasn’t just a celebration—it was the culmination of a love that had been growing for years, a beautiful beginning to the next chapter of their lives together.
“The one thing my husband really wanted was for his daughter to be a meaningful part of the day. She was a bridesmaid on my side, but we had her stand with him and the groomsmen for the reception. It was so special to see how excited and involved she was. Celebrating her was such a joy, and it was incredibly touching to see how happy she was to stand with us and even chose to deliver a speech. I am so happy now to have her as my stepdaughter, and having her by our side truly made the day complete.” - Krystin
A deeply meaningful part of the wedding was the bracelet Krystin’s older sister, Melissa had made for her. It had a charm with a picture of Krystin’s late father, who passed away when she was 17. Though Krystin couldn’t physically walk down the aisle with her father, she chose not to walk with anyone else. She wanted that moment to be held for him. Holding that charm in her hand as she walked down the aisle allowed her to carry a piece of him with her.
Advice to future couples
My advice to couples would be to truly stay present on your big day. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and the hustle of everything happening around you, but take moments to pause and soak in the magic of the day.
